Plank pile
Groynes in coastal engineering (CIRIA C793), published by CIRIA in 2020, defines plank piles as: ‘Individual planks driven (normally vertically) next to each other to form large panels, often with the driving end cut at an angle or shod with metal for ease and to ensure that adjacent planks provide a tight fit.’
